Mother's Day

I know it's been like 5 years since I wrote in here, but no use in excuses or in an attempt to "catch-up" so I'll just start from here and have the best intentions of writing more.

Sunday was Mother's Day, as you know, and I may be biased but I am pretty sure I have the best mama there is. I've learned so much from her and I respect her lots. Right now in my head I'm playing through the advice she's given me, probably more humorous than most "motherly advice" but that's my mama for you. This is my favorite:

When I got glasses she told me if anyone made fun of me, I should take my glasses off and say "I wish I didn't have these cause then I wouldn't have to look at your ugly face." To which I was horrified since I was still a shy, quiet girl. (I guess I still kind of am haha)

I admire my mama's sense of humor, and she has taught me to make the most out of the situations life deals you. She knows how to make people laugh, even when it's with an inappropriate comment/word. I have learned to take life less seriously and to enjoy every situation from her. She is a genuine person, which I truly admire. She loves helping others, and I think she would give you just about anything she had if you wanted it (or even just commented on how much you like it). She picks up on little things that people say and finds a way to give personal gifts because of it. I have a pile full of cards she's mailed me while I've been at school, and I have learned the importance of writing people notes from her.

All this to say mama Peg, as she is called from people who aren't lucky enough to have her as their own mama, but have her as a second mom, is worthy of a whole lot more than a blog post but I wanted to give this to her.

I also made her a pretty delicious lunch, which I forgot to take pictures of, but thankfully I got all the recipes from Food Gawker so I'll show you their pictures.

Main dish: Chipotle Lime Shrimp, which we made into delicious tacos

Side Dish: Broccoli with Lemon Almond Butter (delicious!)
Dessert: Lemon Poppyseed Muffins
It was all delicious, and worth making again.

Anyways I love you mama! And I hope everyone else had an awesome Mother's Day as well!

  1. You aren't wrong, your mom is one of the best (next to my own of course). We sure miss her (both my mom and I).
